So is it ever explained why only some people who die become ghosts? And as a follow-up; why do portraits talk and communicate, but pictures only move repetitiously? Seems to me if Harry had ever found a portrait of his family, he could have communicated with them as if they were still alive. Ideas? Hufflepuff, don’t let me down!
