   Why are ghosts/souls dependent on gods? I don’t believe any of that but I don’t see the connection.

   They could. I don’t though.

   I don’t see where the correlation is between ghosts and god.

   If anything it makes even less sense, if there IS a God, hypothetically speaking of course….then you won’t have ghosts. Because the souls would go be with God or God would do somethin’ with ‘em. He wouldn’t let them run around.

   I suppose the belief in ghosts is orthogonal to the belief in god but I doubt that there are many atheists that believe in ghosts.

   Atheists believe in exactly zero gods. They can hold whatever beliefs they want about non-gods and still be atheists.

   “Atheist” simply means somebody who doesn’t believe in deities. It doesn’t mean we can’t believe in other stuff. That depends on the individual.

   Personally I don’t believe in ghosts.

    atheists are people who do not believe in god, so yes they can believe in ghosts if they choose to.
    ghosts are connected to god but they are also diffrent religion too. so you dont have to believe in god to believ in a ghost.

    ghosts dont have anything to do with a god, except for those who believe in a god
    ghosts, spirits, souls, all these things can and could exist without a god having to exist
    no they dont really bring up god much in those shows

    i don’t believe in god, do believe in ghosts, but i don’t believe they have to be souls of the dead or anything like that. just a reminisce of a person who is no longer alive

    The other answerers have already given the right answer. One interesting thing is that so called psychics like Sylvia Brown, when under attack by skeptics like James Randi, will claim the skeptic doesn’t believe because they are ‘godless’.. utterly false!

    Atheist means you don’t believe in any deity. Ghosts, souls, GHOULIES, cooties, leprechauns, mermaids… anything else goes.

    I don’t have any opinion on ghosts because I don’t know anything about them or whether they exist or not. And I don’t understand why you seem to think you have information no one else does. You cannot say ghosts have anything to do with dead people’s souls or that they are related to God when nobody who studies them knows anything definite about them.

    Ghosts are not souls – there are no such things as ghosts.

    Genesis 2:5
    God formed Man out of dirt from the ground and blew into his nostrils the breath of life.
    The Man came alive—a living soul!

    You don’t have a soul – you are a soul – consisting of body, breath of life, and human spirit.

    When you die, your breath ceases, you body returns to dust and you spirit returns to God, to stay with him till your resurrection.

    However there are evil spirits who cause mischief in life including pretending to be dead peoples’ ghosts/spirits.
